Andrew Hughes

Drew Hughes, a seasoned competitor from a young age, has earned a wildcard entry into the 2023 Ultimate Pool professional circuit. Starting his journey in pool at the tender age of 11, Hughes represented Wales across various age groups and rule sets. With the senior Welsh team, he has clinched titles in both the European and World Blackball Team Championships.

One of his most remarkable achievements came in 2008 when he secured a historic double, winning the European Blackball Championship and the European Under-21 Blackball Championship during the same event in Selsey. This feat made him the youngest player to win the main event and the first to claim both titles in the same year.

During his early years, Hughes also reached the finals of the World Under-18 Championship and the World Under-21 Masters. More recently, he has been a prominent figure on the blackball circuit. His 2014 season was particularly successful; he won an amateur tour event, was named Amateur Player of the Year, and earned his professional status in the sport. That same year, he also made it to the final of the English Blackball Open.

Hughes' other notable accomplishments include winning the 2010 Welsh Open Doubles Championship and reaching the quarter-finals of the 2018 Supreme Masters. Most recently, he was a finalist in the 2023 Welsh Elite Singles Championship.
